Pan因conference回纽约，一起吃了饭，看了场电影: little miss sunshine.

 

   In others' eyes, they are all losers: a mid-aged man (the father) trying to sell his idea about success and failure, his 9-step strategy to be a winner but failed and almost bankrupted; a woman (the mother) having a floppy husband and a marriage full of endless quarrel; an old man (the grandfather) who "is a ne'er-do-well with a drug habit" and never talked without the f*** word and dies in the motel the family stay during the two-day trip because of taking too much heroin; a man (the uncle) attempting to kill himself because his gay lover - one of his students - left him for another man and losing his job as the result of this "unsuccessful romance"; a teenage boy (the brother, "a fanatical follower of Nietzsche") who hates his family (I hate everybody) and has kept silence for 9 months but is forced to talk to the family again when he is frustrated by the truth that he is colorblind thus can never realize his dream to become an Air Force pilot: I hate to be with you, all losers! Even their yellow VW type-2 mini-bus they use to travel from New Mexico to California fails to work and can only start by pushing, and even worse, its horn keeps making noises and attracts a policeman who, fortunately, is later attracted by some "hardcore porno magazines" but not by the grandpa's dead body inside the truck illegally since the family don't have time to get the permission or a funeral.

    Olive, the 7-year-old little girl, is the only one who may possibly become a winner when she is accepted to join the "Little Miss Sunshine" contest final held in California. She is so hopeful and excited that the family decide to (have to) go togher. That's why there is the two-day trip and how the story starts. The trip undoubtedly is tough, boring, and kind of tragic: furious quarrel between the couple because of the unsuccessful business, fting dysfunction of the minivan, the uncle's encountering his ex-boyfriend and the ex' new boyfriend, despires of the moaning colorblind boy, unexpected death of grandpa... But finally they make it, unfortunately 5 min past the deadline. The mean lady in charge is so polite that one can only feel cruelness behind her words. But there is some nice person, the A/V technician gives little Olive the chance.

   The audience, especially the elegant lady in charge, are shocked by Olive's "wild", actually "a roughly choreographed stipper's" dance (she learned from her grandpa) full of "frank sex teases and enticements" according to adults' opinions. It is so ironic. Olive is the only one showing her natural and healthy looks - the true beauty of childhood - while all the other little girls are covered with adult makeups and dressed like babie to indicate the "sexual innuendo" with the faked cute appearance.

  To protect little Olive, and also to fight against the ridiculous ridiculing from the chaste audience, the whole family join the dance despite the event administrators' trying to stop Olive. Later they have to face police and swear "to never enter Olive into another beauty pageant in California again", but who cares? They are family, bounded again.

Auditing two drawing courses this semester, one is introduction to drawing and one is figure drawing. Actually I was very discipline-obeying initially and planed to register both but finally cancelled my registeration with great indignation because CCNY still asks $500 per credit, even I don't want any credit! What a black-hearted idiot college. Well, I have the money, but we just should not support this kind of ridiculous policy, right?

But the professors are very nice and kindly find me a seat in the drawing room, so Monday evening I sketch all shapes of bottles, pots, fruits and vegetables, then Wedensday evening we have live nude model showing the incredible beauty of human body.

ft，这还没拔牙，离牙套还有一段距离呢，就这么别扭难受了。

在某mv来了一年之后，终于下定决心俩人一起去整牙，打了没几个电话，要么说没有adult brace，要么价钱偏高，虽然偶们系钱多那么一点，也不能乱花啊，后来有朋友也在戴brace，就去了她的牙医那里，诊所在chinatown，不过是个老外医生。当时想着在chinatown每次还可以顺便买菜回来，全然没有预见到brace girls将成为不食人间烟火的神仙jms－被迫的，其实是不“能”食。(偶已经放了牙箍了，某美女还没补完牙呢，所以每每见到就幸灾乐祸的笑，警告一下，哼哼，秋后了，你也蹦跶不了几天了)

然而怎么能够不吃呢？boss方面的钱是要挣的，为了发paper，找工作，填满resume，积下的实验是要做的。所幸中国餐饮文化源远流长，不仅有八大菜系煎炒烹炸，更有些炖煨闷煮等等可以做成粥、羹、汤、糊。。。唯一的要求就是要在厨房里苦练刀工把原材料加工成末、茸、棋子儿块儿。比如蒸的鸡蛋羹搁点儿葱花儿跟火腿末，粥呢可以是肉末皮蛋，芹菜虾仁，红枣南瓜、栗子银耳等等，还有冬瓜骨头、芋头腊鸭、豆腐虾皮可粥可煲，怎么觉得两年后有望写本整牙食谱出来。只别人家整牙都瘦的跟竹竿似的，就我跟吹了气的皮球一样就惨了~

第一天戴上牙箍，有那之前买的田鸡腿舍不得送给roomate,和小苹果一起熬了粥，还把剩的一只素鸭切碎了同煮，味道不错。昨天试了试，红烧的鱼块也能吃~等刀工修练成了估计也不用miss凤爪鸭掌猪肚猪耳朵，什么笋干玉兰黄花更不在话下。估计偶用不着以吃软饭和吃豆腐谋生。。 

不过, 那些脆生生的苹果鸭梨儿藕片芹菜胡萝卜黄瓜水果糖冰片糖，还是不能可着劲儿的生着嘁哩喀嚓。还好我本来就不太喜欢吃硬的，也不喜欢甜，如果只能吃糖，那么喜欢奶糖胜于水果糖，偶尔吃块硬糖，也从来没有“刚崩刚崩”的嚼；苹果虽然喜欢juicy的，然而怕凉也不肯每天吃一个来keep the doctor away，何况现在得keep the dentist stay，更不能生吃了。用两年的时间来回忆吧。
