September 16 how much money do I needJust came back from a party, kind of typical American college party: drink is much more important than food. The party was full of (mostly, PhD) students from BME and ChE at CCNY, and as always, there were friends of friends. I was not invited since only met the host several times and didn't know each other's name, but my labmate took me there coz he knows I drink sometimes, hehe. The party was just so so, but only compared to the apartment.
The apartment is not huge, just one-bedroom but I was really impressed how nice, cozy and elegant it is (well, imaging I live above Harlem). Then I was shocked when watching out of the window. What an amazing view of New York city night, and even better, Lincoln Center, the home of New York Philhamonic Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Ballet and I have to say all the three buildings are masterpieces of architecture, is just across the street with its fountain plaza facing the window so nicely and at such a comfortable distance that you don't need to bend your body at 90 degree to get the view.
Then the whole party I was thinking how much money I need to have to rent (don't dare to say buy) such an apartment? The labmate just mentioned a studio around 70's street is $1500/month, so I guess this apartment is at least 3000 bucks thinking the building facing Lincoln Center in west and Central Park in east. Jeez, when can I live in such a place? |
